I come here regularly for lunch. The food reminds me of my family's cooking: rich, homey, classic filipino fare. The staff is always so warm and helpful and the space is neat and tidy. This place is a little gem.

This Filipino market is cute and quaint and full of a lot of goodies! The staff was nice and friendly. I wind up getting food on the back (this place is much bigger than i anticipated), but it was pretty good and affordable.

Global is worth checking out. We've eaten at the little restaurant in the back of the Bailey's Crossroads store maybe just short of a dozen times now. There's tables in the restaurant, so it's not just take out. My favorite dish, by far, is the ube (purple yam) halo-halo. I absolutely love the ube ice cream which comes as a scoop on top of the halo-halo. The halo-halo is a creamy finely shaved ice layered confection. Below the ube ice cream and the shaved ice is a syrup with bits of sweet gummy like candies and even a few white beans. But I want to expand my horizons and try the mango halo-halo next time. There's maybe a dozen or so hot items, including several stews. I love the barbecued chicken skewers. The barbecue sauce has a great flavor and the chicken is tender. Occasionally, I will snack on the lumpia, which are very good. We occasionally will purchase the chicharrones (vaguely similar to pork rinds). But those are so rich, you can't really eat that many of them. This past weekend I was intrigued by the look of the shrimp fritters, so I bought one ($3.29). I'm no longer intrigued by them, The fritters would have been better, I'm sure, if they were served hot, not at room temperature. But then too, I didn't realize until I bit into the thing that the shrimps in the fritter had not been shelled.

I met someone here while waiting for food and she referred to Filipino food as the "soul food" of Southeast Asia-- i agree! Everything is so hearty and savory that it feels like I'm just eating good home cooking every time I go. My favorites are the lechon paksiw (which is lechon kawali that's been stewed with soy, vinegar, and spices), beef steak, any adobo, pork skewers, turon, and the ukoy. I usually spend $40-50 on food when I go bc there are so many things I want to try, and then I legit have enough food for at least two meals per person. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is bc a lot of the entrees are excluded from combo options. I do appreciate that they have food well into the afternoon, though. In my experience, a lot of mom-and-pop Filipino restaurants sell out of food by 1 pm so you're SOL if you go after that time. As long as I live in the area, I'll be a regular!
